
Your Pregnancy Calendar
Weeks 1-4
- Start taking Folic Acid (400mg) daily if you aren't already doing so.
- Think about reducing and stopping smoking.
- Seek help if you need support and advice with alcohol and drug use.
- Avoid medication (if you are taking regular medication always discuss with your GP before thinking about stopping).
- See your GP.
Weeks 5-9
- Consider complementary therapies
- Look out for pregnancy exercise classes/yoga.
Weeks 10-14
- You will be offered a 12 week scan.
- Consider booking a maternity nurse or doula.
Weeks 15-19
- Are your clothes starting to feel uncomfortable - time to move on to maternity wear.
- Book ante-natal classes (NCT/NHS)
Weeks 20-24
- You will be offered a scan at 20 weeks.
- Do you need to decorate the nursery?
Weeks 25-29
- Make the most of your last trip abroad (some airlines won’t let you fly after 28 weeks. Check your travel insurance carefully).
- Think about whether you’ll be returning to work! You can take maternity leave from 29 weeks.
- If you are planning to return to work - start thinking about childcare (yes already).
Weeks 30-34
- Start shopping! Think about ordering prams, cots and car seats.
- How about pampering yourself - Get your hair cut and coloured. Book yourself a pedicure and massage
What you really need in your hospital bag
Wipes, Scooby Snacks, Dextrose Sweets, Disposable Knickers, Hairbands, Phone Numbers, Camera, Money, Drinks (Bottled water), Water Spray, Socks
Weeks 35-39
- Think about sorting your things out for going into hospital/home delivery.
- Get your bag packed. Buy a decent pair of pyjamas to ‘loll’ in
- Be organised and prepare your list of friends and family for sending birth announcement cards.
Weeks 40-42
- Stock your cupboards and freezer with wonderfully delicious and nutritious meals (the local supermarkets do an excellent range or ask friends and family)
- Put your feet up and relax!!! (now you just have to be patient).
