Immunisation Is For Protection

Infectious diseases can be dangerous - Immunisation helps to prevent them. All children should receive immunisations.
The main exceptions are:
- Children suffering from acute illness - postpone until fully recovered
- Children who have had a severe reaction to a previous immunisation
- Children who are taking medicines that might interfere with their ability to fight infection
Children can be immunised even if they have a cold, unless there is a temperature or fever, and whilst taking most medicines, including antibiotics. Talk to your health visitor or doctor if you want to know more.
