Maternity Reflexology

Reflexology

Pre-pregnancy

Becoming a parent for some is the simplest thing in the world, for others it may take many years of trying and even then still not happen naturally. This can have a tremendous effect on your emotional health. Waiting and hoping every month that your dreams will be realised, only to be shattered by the negative results of a simple test.

Sub-fertility reflexology is suitable for couples who wish to take a more natural approach to conception or are about to undergo assisted fertility treatment. During your consultation you will be asked many questions relating to your sub-fertility; your medical history will be taken, as well as details of your lifestyle, dietary and exercise regime. A detailed picture will be built up of one or both partners so that the best course of treatment can be ascertained. The treatments will help your body reach optimum health; giving your body the best chance of conceiving.

For most women pregnancy is a joyful time; from conception to birth their bodies adapt with apparent ease, whilst accommodating their child. For some this can be a time fraught with mixed emotions,
whilst the body reacts to the hormonal and physical changes that pregnancy imposes upon the body. Anxiety, prolonged bouts of morning sickness or nausea, fatigue and discomfort are amongst a few of the things that some mothers experience.

Maternity reflexology is a specialised gentle form of reflexology; designed to support the body whilst it acclimatises to the changes that pregnancy brings. It can also help restore normal blood pressure,
balance hormonal levels that fluctuate throughout pregnancy and stimulate the release of endorphins; the body’s own natural pain relief.

Regular treatments throughout your pregnancy can help reduce:

  • Stress
  • Fatigue
  • Fluid retention
  • Back pain
  • Heartburn, morning sickness or nausea

Postnatal

During your post natal recovery, maternity reflexology can help restore your body back to its pre-pregnant state. It can also offer support to your baby if they are experiencing feeding difficulties.

Maternity reflexology is a treatment that is complementary to the professional healthcare of your midwife and therefore their permission must be obtained before treatments can commence.
