
What Should You Eat?
Eat plenty of:
- Fruit and vegetables
- Starchy foods - bread, potatoes, rice, pasta and breakfast cereal
- Lean meat, fish, poultry, eggs, cheese, beans and pulses
- Dairy foods - milk, cheese and yoghurt
Pregnant and breastfeeding women need 10mcg of vitamin D daily

Try to avoid:
- Sugar and sugary foods
- Fat and fatty foods
Take care with:
- Cooking all meat and poultry thoroughly
- Washing fruit, vegetables and salads
- Making sure eggs are thoroughly cooked
Only drink pasteurized or UHT milk
Don’t eat liver or liver products
Avoid:
- All types of pate, vegetable pates and mould-ripened soft cheese
- Peanuts and foods containing peanut products
- Shark, marlin and swordfish and limit the amount of tuna you eat
